The Corsair enjoyed the longest production run of any piston-engined fighter aircraft in history, and served with distinction in both World War 2 and Korea. Its final combat sorties were flown during the 1969 "Football War" between Honduras and El Salvador, which erupted over a dispute over the final score of a soccer game. Ironically, the Corsair's final victory was against another Corsair...perhaps fitting for a plane that was sometimes as good at killing itself as it was enemy aircraft: more of the tricky-to-fly Corsairs were lost to accidents in WW2 than to enemy fire.
