American Airlines DC-3 parked in front of the old Lunken Airport terminal building

The American Airlines DC-3 "Flagship Cincinnati" parked in front of Lunken Airport's terminal building. This is how Lunken airport might have appeared in the late 30's or early forties, although I have taken a little artistic license with the tower. The original tower did not have the welcome sign or clock (there was a large field light where the sign sits now), which were added at a later date, most likely when the tower itself was rebuilt to replace the glass roof. But I thought this version looked nicer. Digital art.

Lunken's old terminal building still stands today, although the tower is no longer in use, and is often host to vintage aircraft fly-ins and events. If you are ever in the Cincinnati area, check the calendar and see if anything exciting will be parked on the ramp...
